Now, more than ever, a strong Democratic voice is needed as we fight for safer and more compassionate communities.  We must strive to promote a society built on understanding and trust, where the opportunities to live healthy and productive lives exist for all people.  As Democrats, we must ensure that the future is determined with the values of reason, fairness, and compassion that are so essential to our party’s strength.

An Active Community is a Powerful, Resilient Community.

Active public participation ensures government accountability and responsibility in decision-making.  The relationships that we build in our communities, as neighbors and community members help to ensure that we live in a healthy, thriving, safe community- one that offers each individual, from birth to old age, the opportunity to reach their full potential through quality education, jobs and other community support structures.  We must encourage and facilitate community participation so our government will more fully reflect who we are as a people.

This Community finds its Future through Strong Public Education.

Utah is blessed with hard working and qualified educators.  We must ensure that all who work in the Utah’s education system are given the necessary resources to make success the standard outcome for all our students.

We must Develop a Community and an Environment which promotes Healthy and Active Lifestyles.

Our governments must invest in policies that encourage and promote life long health regardless of circumstance.  This includes community health centers, community recreation opportunities, appropriate nutrition for our children, and effective and affordable health care coverage

We All Deserve to be Safe in Our Neighborhoods and Our Homes.

Contact with our neighbors brings familiarity and trust and helps us all help each other keep safe and secure.  In addition to supporting public safety agencies, neighborhoods must continue their effective community watch programs that have the full support of state and municipal government.

Public Transportation promotes Interactions between Individuals, Economic Growth, and Environmental Stewardship.

Greater social mobility links business with additional consumers and qualified employees. Smart planning and resources for walkable communities increases neighborhood interaction, protects the environment, and reduces urban sprawl.  These types of planning choices must be made now to sustain communities and provide greater opportunities for future generations.
