District 23’s House Seat means something special to the people of Utah. Our representatives are known for their passion, leadership, dedication, and commitment to the Democratic Party. These principles are reflected in the people of our community.

When I purchased my first house years ago, I searched all across the Salt Lake Valley for some place I could call “home.” I chose this neighborhood. Driving through I saw children playing, couples walking their dogs, and a man teaching a young girl how to ride a bike. I found the Northwest Community Center to be more than just a building – it was a great neighborhood festival venue and a fantastic gathering place. I discovered the Jordan River and its trail, and all of the lovely open space.

I adamantly believe that this corner of Salt Lake is not simply a place where people sleep and eat after work, church, or school; it is a distinct community where people care about others, help neighbors in need, and spend time with their loved ones. It has to it an incredible sense of place and identity. This is why I am dedicated to the principle of community development.

The relationships that we build in our communities, as neighbors and community members help to ensure that we live in a healthy, thriving, safe community- one that offers each individual, from birth to old age, the opportunity to reach their full potential through quality education, jobs and other community support structures. I strongly believe that our lives are tremendously enhanced by the opportunity to live among and get to know people from a wide variety of backgrounds and our community is an excellent place to begin cultivating these ties.

I am proud to have the opportunity to represent this community in the Utah State House of Representatives. This is not, however, an endeavor in which I can do alone. With your support and guidance, together we will fight for Democratic legislation that develops and nurtures our community for future generations.
